Avoid the Hunch while Exercising

Throughout the day we are often hunched over our computers, phone and steering wheel of our car, so we need to make sure to AVOID THE HUNCH WHEN EXERCISING.

The condition called text neck which is generally derived from people hunching forward spending excess time on electrical devices, is causing a lot of pain and many serious health issues.

Being hunched over looking at your phone can put up to 60LB of pressure on your neck and spine.

Text Neck can result in serious permanent damage including:

Flattening of the Spinal Curve          Onset of Early Arthritis

                    Spinal Degeneration                        Spinal Misalignment

                    Disc Herniation                               Disc Compression

                    Muscle Damage                              Nerve Damage

Loss of Lung Volume Capacity          Gastrointestinal Problems

The stationary upright bike has been designed to simulate a road bike, which is perfect  for aerodynamics but when aerodynamics are not a factor on a bike that is built to go nowhere, we should avoid positioning ourselves in this hunched over position for another 30 minutes while trying to get fit??

The CARDIOGYM CG6 combines a recumbent cycle with a pulley system.  The recumbent cycle keeps you in a more upright and balanced position allowing you to simultaneously work your upper body and strengthen and build the muscles needed to align your posture, as well as many other health benefits over traditional exercise bikes.

Exercise time should be the time we strengthen these muscles and correct our posture and definitely not put ourselves under more unnecessary strain.

So choose wisely when selecting your exercise equipment, you don’t want to make matters worse.

Mankind has spent millions of years to come from the hunched over position to become upright, let’s avoid going back there!

Footnote: While 75% of the world's population spends hours daily hunched over their handheld devices with their heads flexed forward, they are all in constant danger and at risk of developing Text Neck. The frequent forward flexion causes changes in the cervical spine, curve, supporting ligaments, tendons, and musculature, as well as the bony segments, commonly causing postural change. Among the chief complaints associated with Text Neck are pain felt in the neck, shoulder, back, arm, fingers, hands, wrists and elbows, as well as headaches and numbness and tingling of the upper extremities.
